Welcome to the Garden State Craft Brewers Guild Newsletter for April 2010.

The New Jersey Beer Co. Now Brewing

Bringing craft beer production back to Hudson County for the first time in more than a decade, The New Jersey Beer Co. brewed its first batch in early April. The 20 barrel brewery will launch with three beers – Hudson Pale Ale, Garden State Stout and 1787 Abbey Single, a Belgian-style session beer. Founder and President Matt Steinberg says the beers will be on tap and in bottles by April 26.

Located in North Bergen, the brewery is a fulfilled dream for Steinberg, who embraced his love for homebrewing and the American entrepreneurial spirit. Matt Westfall, of New England Brewing will oversee the inaugural batches. In the coming months Steinberg says the brewery will add new styles to the lineup and will add to the already proud tradition of brewing beer in the Garden State. More information about the brewery may be found at www.njbeerco.com.

Flying Fish Releases 14th Edition Of The Perfect Summer Beer-Farmhouse Summer Ale

Hard to believe this tasty stuff is now entering its 14th summer. That’s good for all of us! Flying Fish Farmhouse Summer Ale is on its way out to your favorite retailer and tavern as you read this. The perfect summer beer, Farmhouse Ale is brewed with pale malt, a small percentage of wheat and single-hopped with imported Styrian Golding hops. It’s a tribute to the “everyday” Farmhouse beers of Belgium (but it’s not a Saison – no fruit, herbs or spices). A sour mash gives this beer its signature dryness and great drinkability.

Krogh’s Celebrating Spring with Maibock

Celebrate Shad Fest with River Horse and Triumph

It’s that time of year again…Shad Fest at River Horse Brewing Company and Triumph Brewing Company. The event takes place Saturday April 24th and Sunday April 25th. Each year the festival highlights the region’s arts community, the City of Lambertville, the Delaware River, and of course, the Shad! The Shad Festival has evolved from a local art show into a nationally recognized award-winning event.
