Join us on November 2nd for the annual James Beard Foundation Gala Dinner and Auction – Now that’s Italian! This year’s event will celebrate the unique contributions of American chefs to Italian cuisine and vice versa. Dinner will be prepared by multiple James Beard Award-winning chefs Mario Batali, Nancy Silverton, Marc Vetri, and Michael White. There will be an exciting reception featuring an Italian piazza marketplace and silent auction followed by an incredible meal with outstanding wine pairings and a live auction of money-can’t-buy experiences hosted by Lydia Wickliffe Fenet, international director of strategic partnerships at the famed Christie’s auction house. Event proceeds benefit the James Beard Foundation whose mission is to celebrate, nurture, and preserve America’s diverse culinary heritage and future.

The Taste of Bergen County event will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The Taste of Bergen County will provide an elegant evening of food and drink, from select Bergen County restaurants, eateries and wine specialists. Premier eateries include McCormick & Schmick’s, Blue Moon Mexican Cafe, Bourbon BBQ and more. The goal of the event is to raise money for the Center for Food Action (Bergen County) and National Urban League of Bergen County.

Featuring acclaimed Flamenco guitarist, Carlos Revollar, with Flamenco dancer.

New Brunswick Restaurants Unite for Eric LeGrand Believe Fund

Fundraiser Set for Sunday, January 30

A collection of New Brunswick establishments will take part in a special charity event to raise money for the Eric LeGrand Believe Fund on Sunday, January 30.

LeGrand, a junior defensive tackle for the Rutgers football program, suffered a spinal cord injury Oct. 16 against Army. The fund was established to support LeGrand and his family throughout his rehabilitation.

Participating New Brunswick restaurants will provide a variety of special menus and offers for the fundraiser. Tickets for this event can be purchased in advance from participating establishments, and there are a number of differently priced ticket options available.

The list of participants include Catherine Lombardi, Steakhouse 85, Due Mari, Old Bay, Panico’s Brick Oven Pizza, The Stress Factory, Delta’s, The Frog and The Peach, Glass Woods Tavern at the Hyatt, Panico’s Italian Restaurant and the Tulu Restaurant and Lounge. Please call the restaurant of your choice for menu, ticket information and reservations.

Whichever location and/or ticket option you choose, a minimum of 50% of the ticket price will be donated to the Eric LeGrand Believe Fund.

Savor Borgata Dining Event

On Saturday, Nov. 13, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa will present Savor Borgata – A Taste of France, Spain & Italy – at the Borgata Event Center, featuring the restaurants and chefs that have positioned Borgata as a leading culinary destination on the East Coast. Tickets are $100.

This year, each restaurant will be represented with their own culinary station, offering guests the exclusive opportunity to interact with Wolfgang Puck (Wolfgang Puck American Grille), Michael Mina (SeaBlue), Michael Schulson (Izakaya), Stephen Kalt (Fornelletto Cucina & Wine Bar), Geoffrey Zakarian (The Water Club at Borgata), Romeo DiBona (Old Homestead Steak House), Michael Chiarlanza (Bobby Flay Steak), Ron Ross (Borgata Executive Chef) and Thaddeus DuBois (Borgata Executive Pastry Chef), while sampling each chef’s unique approach to Mediterranean cuisine. A Taste of Bergen

A number of local restaurants will serve samples of their food at the second annual “A Taste of Bergen” benefit from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 15 at Seasons, 644 Pascack Road, Washington Township. The event will benefit the Foundation at Bergen Regional Medical Center and the renovation of the hospital’s chapel.

Participating restaurants include: Grand Lux Café, Davey’s Irish Pub, Glen Rock Inn, Janice-a bistro, Lisa’s Turkish Kitchen, Harvest Moon Caterers, Seasons, Morrison Catering, Winberie’s Restaurant and Bar, Picnic the Restaurant, The Melting Pot, Radicchio, The Dutch House Tavern, Felice Restaurant, Giovanni’s Deli, DiBaris Catering, Allendale Eats, Palermo Bakery, Regina’s Steak House and Davia. Local chef Angie Shaghaghi, who appeared on “The Rachel Ray Show” and Food Network’s “Chopped,” will lead a demonstration in how to cook healthy and flavorful dishes.
