ANNUAL BLUES & WINE FESTIVAL USHERS IN SUMMER SEASON AT NATIRAR PARK IN SOMERSET COUNTY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND MAY 26-27
Looking for the perfect way to usher in the summer season? Look no further than beautiful Natirar Park in Peapack-Gladstone in Somerset County when the Garden State Wine Growers Association (GSWGA) hosts their annual Blues & Wine Festival on Memorial Day Weekend, May 26-27 from Noon-5 p.m. each day.
This year, the GSWGA’s first outdoor wine tasting event of the year will offer a sampling of more than 250 award winning New Jersey wines from over 20 wineries and gourmet foods within the confines of one of the most beautiful park settings in the state.
Admission is $25 per person at the door and includes a souvenir wine glass. Attendees will be able to purchase wine by the bottle and case. Advance tickets are also available for $20 by going online at www.newjerseywines.com. All of the wines available for sampling have been locally produced and feature a number of gold, silver and bronze award winning vintages from major national competitions including the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, The Los Angeles County Fair Wine Competition, the Finger Lakes International Wine Competition and the Beverage Testing Institute Wine Challenge.
“We think our event menu of great food, award-winning wine and classic blues provides the perfect way to celebrate Memorial Day weekend,” said Ollie Tomasello, Chairman of the Garden State Wine Growers Association and owner of Plagido’s Winery in Hammonton. “There’s no more beautiful a setting than Natirar Park. We hope everyone can come out and spend some time sampling the best that New Jersey wineries have to offer.”
Outstanding local musical talent will take the stage each day at the event.
Featured performers include:

Carl Capodice and Lenny De Piano soon joined the band and now Slackjaw has a brand new sound of blues and rock.

Bassist, Elmo John and drummer Ray G and Pat G on keyboards. Rounding out this high energy band is The Rev (Mike Rochelle), originally from Chicago, now residing in New Jersey. The band plays a mix of standard and contemporary blues covers, as well as original songs from their last two self-produced CD’s.

“The Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce is proud to sponsor, promote and partner with the New Jersey wineries to bring the first ever wine festival to Long Beach Island” commented Chamber President, Chris Schwab. “The wine festival hopefully will grow to be the pre-season event annually just like Chowderfest has grown to be the end of the season event on LBI. Pour Into Summer Wine Festival is something new for this area, yet fits in perfectly with our clientele and supports everything the region is about,” continued Chris Schwab. Producer and organizer of the wine festival, Kathy Bullock of GPS, Inc, agreed “On behalf of the ten New Jersey wineries and my company I can tell you that we are all very excited about the tremendous opportunity to bring a great new wine festival to LBI. The Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce/LBI DMO, Beach Haven officials and the people of LBI have embraced this event and we are so grateful for their support.”
In speaking about the partnership with these New Jersey wineries and GPS, Inc, Chris Schwab was quick to comment “The Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce is thrilled the wineries have chosen this area to showcase NJ wines. There is a buzz in the region about the festival and people can not wait to go. The Frog Re-Born
The Frog and The Peach Restaurant announces a change of ownership. Betsy Alger and Jim Black, founders of the restaurant and proprietors for 29 years, have sold the business to Bruce Lefebvre, Frog Executive Chef since 2001.
The Frog and The Peach has consistently received accolades throughout its history. Alger and Black’s creative sensibilities and flair for reinvention kept the restaurant feeling fresh and always on the cutting edge of local and national trends. “It is time now to move on to new ventures and adventures. We leave a well established operation that will thrive with new energy and a fresh face.”
The restaurant will be in excellent hands. Lefebvre actually began his professional career at The F&P, starting as a line cook the day after graduation from The Culinary Institute of America. Leaving to hone his craft in New York, he worked for Charlie Palmer at Aureole; stagiered at Daniel and Lespinasse and returned to The Frog in 2000.
Since becoming Executive Chef eleven years ago, Chef Bruce has been recognized as one of the leading chefs in the region.
The culinary and management teams will also remain in place, maintaining consistency and leading the restaurant forward: General Manager Jim Mullen, Sous Chef Mike Fortino; Pastry Chef Joseph Erdely and Event Manager Jack Tagmouti.

A New Owner at The Frog and The Peach
The Frog and The Peach Restaurant is announcing a change of ownership. Betsy Alger and Jim Black, founders of the restaurant and proprietors for 29 years, are selling the business to Bruce Lefebvre, their Executive Chef since 2001.
Betsy Alger and Jim Black were bold enough back in the early 1980s to set up shop on the hope and promise that New Brunswick would rise up from the ashes of urban decay.
The Frog and The Peach has consistently received accolades throughout its history. Alger and Black’s creative sensibilities and flair for reinvention have kept the restaurant feeling fresh and always on the cutting edge of local and national trends.
Since becoming Executive Chef eleven years ago, Chef Bruce has consistently been recognized as one of the leading chefs in the state.
“I am honored to carry on the tradition and reputation of The Frog and The Peach, and I certainly plan to tap into Jim and Betsy’s experience and creativity, knowing that they are just a phone call away.”
The culinary and management teams will also remain in place, maintaining consistency and leading the restaurant forward: General Manager Jim Mullen, Sous Chef Mike Fortino; Pastry Chef Joseph Erdely and Event Manager Jack Tagmouti.
Betsy Alger and Jim Black are grateful for having had dedicated employees, many of whom have gone on to assume top spots in the industry and successful restaurants of their own; thanking each and every current and past alumnus for being part of The Frog family. They thank their loyal guests for decades of patronage. They wish Bruce Lefebvre much success in his new role at the helm of The Frog and The Peach.
